RIP Kim Peek

ACCAA bows our heads in silent rememberance as we think of a great man who is an inspiration to many ACCers. This man is Kim Peek, at 58 years old this man has passed on. He was an ACCer and Savant with other "disablities" but this man was anything but Disable. He could read 8 books in a day, and retained all of that knowledge. He was the inspiration for the movie Rain Man (Star of this movie was Dustin Hoffman playing an Autistic Savant)

Let us remember this man in our hearts and lives and never let the memory of him die.

So many ACCers have had the opertunity to meet him, and so many of us who hadnt yet met him had a dream of meeting him. Please remember his father and the others whose lives this man touched...remember them in your thoughts and prayers.

School and ACC and ACCAA update

Hey everyone, So it's about that time for an update, I'm home on Christmas break right now and I got my grades for this semester. So this section of the blog is for personal things that I've overcome.

I passed all my classes!!!
Youth Ministry Internship: A
Systematic Theology: C
Galatians: C+
Human Biology: D
Church History: C+

My youth ministry internship took a lot of hard work but I loved it.
As far as Systematic Theology and Galatians, those were some tough courses. The Bible classes are always the hardest but I enjoyed what I learned in there.
Human Biology: My Gen Eds are tough classes for me, through my 4 and a half years of college I had a difficult time with math and now science. I wish I could have done better in this class but I tried hard and did what I could, and I'm just thankful for passing.
Church History: This whole class was hard but I enjoyed it, I learned so much. Church History is facinating and through this I went to my first Catholic Mass service. I took away so many experiences from this class.

Though these grades arent the highest, they show that I did try, and I did well for the most part I'm proud of these grades because they show that through my ACC I didnt give up and kept trying.

Well We've hit our goal and surpassed it. We had a goal in October to get about 1000 signatures. At last count we had 1114. At the count before and at our Dec 15th date of when we'd hit the goal we had 1113! Praise GOD!!!

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season and pray safety and blessings upon all of you!

Happy New Year! The new year is fast approaching and will bring many things for myself and ACCAA.

Right now we dont have a new goal of petition signatures, but starting during the New Year we'll have a goal to hit 2000, Also starting in the new year I'll be contacting radio shows and magazines!

Outside of the petition, We're hoping by march/april that we'll have t-shirts and bracelets to sell!

The Saynow number is getting phone calls which is great, coming in the new year we'll be having new chats when I'm break (video chats so we can discuss new things in ACCAA) As well as Saynow live. I'll send out notifications through this, our message board, and facebook, and twitter, as well as saynow as to when I'll have saynow live on to where you can call the saynow number and I'll answer it, you can ask me questions about ACC or ACCAA and I'll answer them and talk to you about things! I'm really excited about this!

Other than that there are some other things that are still in the conversation area of planning but things ar happening just like their supposed to, PRAISE GOD!!
Love you all and God Bless

School and ACC

hey everyone so While in school I'm updating people on how I'm doing with ACC and being a college student.

As an ACCer I have a horrible memory, memorizing things for tests and stuff like that comes very difficult for me. I had to memorize the Nicene Creed for my Church History class.

"I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen."

It's long and was very hard to memorize. BUT ACCers and ACCer Parents dont let ANYONE tell you that you cant overcome difficulties in school. I got a 90% on that memorization quiz! Praise God! If you are determined and try and do everything you can and lean on God ANYTHING is possible. :)

ACCA Message Board

Hey everyone!

Well with everything thats been being added by ACCA to get the word out, from videos, to the petition, to twitter, say now, myspace, facebook, justin.tv and a few other things including our website and this blog there was something else just added.

A good friend of mine, no stranger to the world of ACC e-mailed me a few days ago about an issue that was brought to her attention by some ACCers that she met on a message board. And I got to thinking about how a message board would be a great tool to use to get awareness out there. So ACCA has started a message board. Join it please! It's really small and I welcome ideas from all on what to add. Under each discussion you can add your own threads and I really hope everyone likes this. It can be found here: http://accawareness.proboards.com/ tell any and everyone that you feel can benefit from this! God Bless

ACC and Me: School (and some ACCA news)

Hey kiddos, and not so kiddish kiddos. It's Lynnea here with a school and ACC update.

This past semester was one of my most difficult semesters yet. However I just found out all my grades and I passed. This right here shows you that a person with ACC who struggles with migrains daily CAN in fact pass her college courses.

My classes and the grades I got

Effective Youth Communications:B-
Philosophy of Youth Ministry: B+
Ethics: B-
Death and Dying: A-
Math: C

These are the best grades I've had since my first semester of college and it's all because I did my best and tried my hardest. I really felt closer to God during this time too.

But really if you have ACC and people are telling you that you cant do something, think about it, You can! We all can do anything we set our minds to even if we have a disorder holding us back!!

Now to ACCA: We're still hard at work on the video, shirts, and petition and will post everything once it's all done. I'm also talking to the right people about funding as soon as possible.

Thanks for reading. God Bless

School and ACC and ACCA update

Hey there my blog readers,

Hopefully in the coming months I get some more entries from other ACCers or parents or friends of ACCers to post. Until then heres the update concerning my ACC and school.

Everything was going good until my computer crashed, now I'm behind of school but I've got today and tomorrow to catch up. So thats good. It'll be good to be able to catch up with all my hw.

My ACC stopped effecting me as much concerning my school work after much needed prayer. Then suddenly thats when my computer crashed. And so with the stress it started acting up again, through headaches. But things are looking up. I had a BAD ACC headache yesterday but things are better today, praise God.

For ACCA we're still hard at work on the T-shirts and the petiton, I'm working on some other things as well. And I've got a friend that is putting together the music for the song for ACCA. I'm doing my best to get some stuff done for the kids of ACCA. We want to make this for ALL accers and those that dont have ACC.

ACCA is wearing the silver ribbons to represent brain disorders now. And we're loving what we're doing with that. God is good. I've got this month left of school then I'm done for the summer. And this summer I'm doing my internship, as well as doing a LOT for ACCA. This should be fun.

Passion lit up again

Hey all-

Well School is still taken up most of my time though every free moment goes to ACCA. I love what I'm doing with ACCA. I've met SO many amazing parents and ACCers. My passion to get word out about ACC grows every single day.

Lately at school I've been called a liar, a fake, and a drama queen. This has all been because of my ACC. And I've been called these things by people who dont understand the disorder and those that dont WANT to understand it. And It's honestly annoyed me to no end. But also it has helped me to see the need of knowledge about the disorder ACC....and I want people to know about it, I want to be a voice to a people that dont get it. Lets face it, I'm stubborn, and with Christ in my heart and some people backing me up I can do this!!! And I WANT to. I'm excited about this passion that keeps growing within me.

About school, I'm actually doing okay in Math so far, which is good. I'm doing okay in my other classes. My ACC has been acting up a lot more due to stress and being mistreated but I'm trying to control it and overcome it. But I'm excited because after this week is spring break then I have 6 weeks left of school and I CANT WAIT TO BE DONE!!!!! :)

God Bless yall

Update on my school and ACC

Hey all,

First off it seems as though a lot of people who say they want to help with ACCA arent actually backing it up with help! Which stinks but someday I hope to meet more people that actually want to help.

Next i want to tell you all how my schooling for this semester is going. I'm finding myself extreemly busy with all the stuff that I have to due like HW, projects, and studying. But life is good. I cant complain. Here is an update by classes.

Ethics: This class is difficult because he calls for memorization, presentations, and writing papers. All three things are things that I'm horrible at due to my ACC. But I'm doing my best and seem to be doing alright in there so far.

Death And Dying: I Love this class! It challenges me to think outside the box about many futuristic things. And helps me in learning how to counsel those that struggle with grief.

Math: Well this class is my hardest one but surprisingly I'm doing alright so far. On my first test I got a perfect score. And so I'm very happy about that. Dont let anyone tell you that because you have a disability you cant do something.

Effective Youth Communications: This class is taught by one of my favorite professors. It's a preaching class and I love it. It's really helping me with my presentation skills.

Philosophy of Youth Ministry: We do discussions in this class and I used to hate it but I'm really starting to come out of my shell about that. so thats fun.

School takes up most of my time but I love every minute of it. I'm learning so much this semester, and life is good. I'm struggling a lot with people not respecting me due to my ACC but I know that things will get better.
